Ian performed his NEIL DIAMOND TRIBUTE on BBC RADIO 2 for RUSSELL KANE'S "Whistle Stop Tour" singing 2 songs, "Cracklin' Rosie" and "Sweet Caroline" as a finale to the show at the Grand Theatre in Blackpool on 13th August 2011. The show was recorded in the Lawrence House Studio inside the Grand Theatre in May and included four up and coming stand up comedians, Chris Ramsey, Gary Delaney, Rob Rouse and
Justin Moorhouse, plus an incredibly good band called "The Travelling Band", with Russell Kane compering the show and introducing Ian as the last act in a grand finale to get the audience up and singing....... it worked!!
There was also an outside broadcast where Russell
went out and about to discover the best bits of Blackpool and discuss its
beginnings with author Travis Elborough. The whole thing was then edited and broadcast on BBC RADIO 2 on 13th August 2011 on the prime Saturday evening slot at 9pm.
Ian and his wife Sue with the late, great comedian FRANK CARSON at the Paradise Club in Tenerife in 2000. Ian was support act for two shows there during a wonderful week of fun.

Ian as Tom Jones on GMTV with TV legend KEITH CHEGWIN on Pendine Sands in South Wales - in a Live Broadcast singing "DELILAH" and "IT'S NOT UNUSUAL" ( 5 minutes of live open-air broadcast ). A really fun time. The producer Ed Wells booked Ian into a local hotel the night before and then it was up at 6am, breakfast with the crew and a meeting with "Cheggers" for a brief outline of the schedule. He just makes it up pretty much and so Ian just had to react to wherever Keith went. The guy is a genius at Live TV. The music failed for "DELILAH" so Ian had to sing it acapella and try to guess the key - he came in too low but it was such a great laugh and as you can see Cheggers loved it! He and Ed were knocked out by Ian's professionalism! A wonderful piece of live television.
Ian also performed his Tom Jones Tribute Show as support act to X-FACTOR Winner ALEXANDRA BURKE for a Millionaire's party in 2010 (in the second Video Alex sings "Hallelujah" and Ian sings "It's Not Unusual" - Merriscourt UK).
The 3rd Video is a CHANNEL 5 Christmas Advert that Ian starred in as a top cabaret act singing "Behind Closed Doors". The advert was to highlight domestic abuse and ran for 2 weeks. it took 12 hours to shoot 45 seconds of advert and Ian had to sing the song 26 times!!

Ian has performed as Tom Jones on GMTV with KEITH CHEGWIN singing "It's Not Unusual" and "Delilah", SKY TV at Hull Kingston Rovers ground - on the pitch singing to a 15,000 crowd, BBC and ITV2 being interviewed for a London Marathon Lookalike Charity Event in Pall Mall, GRANADA TV and CHANNEL 5 (Christmas advert as a cabaret singer).
He studied at the BIRMINGHAM SCHOOL OF DRAMA for 6 months in 1997 and went on to act in many of the famous TV period dramas. He was required as a 'walk-on' for a part in "A RESPECTABLE TRADE" with Warren Clarke and Richard Briers as a Merchant Venturer - a speaking part asking the slave trader "What price for your slave?" (see photo below, as the lead actor STEPHEN WAREING bids for a slave boy at an auction, Ian is next to him in a grey wig counter bidding). Other parts followed in "VANITY FAIR" (party guest at a Ball), "TOM JONES THE FOUNDLING" playing the part of a footpad (see photo below), "BERKELEY SQUARE", playing a major part starting a fight with the lead actor (see photo), the film "THE ALCHEMIST" at Leavesdon Studios playing a businessman and another film "THE WARRIORS" as a soldier's mate in the war in Croatia. Also 'walk-on' parts in "DANGERFIELD", playing a chief inspector with Nigel Havers (see photo below - Ian is on right in peak cap), "PEAK PRACTICE" (many parts over 3 years) and "CROSSROADS".

Tom Jones is known as "THE VOICE" and you have to possess a great voice to impersonate him. Ian has that vocal quality and POWER. The Vocal quality and power is where an awful lot of TJ Tribute Acts fail ....... average vocals are never good enough when it comes to Sir Tom Jones and if you don't have his POWER and can't hold the big notes, then don't even attempt it! You will hear the weaker TJ singers hitting the big notes and then immediately diving down like a plane crash because they can't hold them.... OR even worse, having the backing music turned right up so you can't really hear the top notes anyway. You can always hear Tom Jones' voice above the music, but weak voices struggle.
The last note on "Thunderball" lasts 17 seconds and requires real POWER and breath control. Ian performed his Tom Jones Tribute at the SHANGRI-LA TRADERS HOTEL in DUBAI for the WELSH EX-PATS ASSOCIATION in 2008 - The Ballroom/Function room is below. It was a huge convention centre and so luxurious. There is a Tom Jones DVD on the screen playing before the show. The management were so attentive and paid for Ian & his wife Sue to tour around Dubai and have a meal at the fabulous JUMEIRAH BEACH HOTEL (Above) - at £95 for an afternoon tea... just as well they did!! They also paid for Ian and Sue to go on a Desert Safari on the border of Abu Dhabi.
Relaxing in the DUBAI MALL which is an incredible place with its shops and indoor ski slopes and indoor skiing facilities.
